We’ve visited Holy Mackerel twice in the last couple of weeks, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we visit weekly in the future. Both visits were great. From the minimal wait time (even with quite a crowd), to the delicious food and great customer service. We have no complaints. It’s about a 30 minute drive for us, but well worth it. Holy Mackerel VA did not disappoint. We were seated quickly with the option of indoor or outdoor seating with great views of the river from any seat in the house. The server was great! She was very polite and knowledgable of the menu and drinks. We opted for the pretzel for appetizer it was a large portion great for sharing and the crab cake sandwich was delicious. This place is not good at all. Service sucks. All you can eat crabs and shrimp is gross. They don’t keep coming back in case you need anything. No gloves in case you wanted some or clothing Bib. Got the wrong alcoholic drink , bland food with no seasoning or salt and pepper. Crab legs were filled with water and shrimp had no seasoning at all. All they have is butter and old bay. Went around 11:30 for Sunday Brunch. Service was pretty slow, but the waitstaff was very friendly and approachable. Being out on the water was really cool. My main issue was the food. Most were... fine, but difficult to justify the 30 dollar price tag for most dishes. I ordered the traditional egg breakfast and had the displeasure of eating what we suspect were bad eggs. The food was decent. A little pricey. The staff was polite however, everyone seemed in disarray. I think whatever system of operation they're using needs to be completely rethought. It took over a half an hour for the waitress to take our order for food . Reordered drinks or just sitting at the bar as everyone walked by them we had to go get them ourselves. It seemed like quite a bit of confusion with all of the waitresses. It was a lot of confusion with tickets who ordered what . The location is amazing, the band was great.... read more
